A Hamilton automotive institution, Power Steering Services was established in 1973 by Don Campbell, in Vialou St, Hamilton North. Recently Don passed down the day-to-day control and management of PSS to his son Brett, and his wife Sharleen. Brett qualified as an A-grade mechanic at age 19, the youngest in New Zealand at the time, shortly before the qualifying system changed.
Their son, Owen, also works as an apprentice mechanic, making it three generations of Campbells employed within the walls, and reinforcing the family side of the business.
Moving into the new, modern and current premises on Mahana Road in 2014, the new workshop has opened up a more central location to service the expanding Hamilton area, and located just off Te Rapa Road, near Bunnings, is close enough to the main road, while offering easy access and parking.
Also home to Power Steering Services, this division of DCM repairs and services all power steering components on-site, and has been a specialty of the company since 2008.
